2009
Anna immersed herself in the language and culture of Peru. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago and is now pursuing her PhD in sociology at the University of Minnesota.
2010
Gabe is a graduate of Tufts and the Chicago Kent School of Law and is now a practicing attorney in Washington D.C. In 2010, he participated in a summer program in France.
2011
Marilyn participated in a pre-college program at Brown University in 2011. She went on to earn a BA from the University of Vermont, a Master’s from the University of Miami, taught with Teach for America, and is now a computer software developer.
2012
Erika Took a journey to Vietnam as a Farther scholar. She has since graduated from St. Olaf College, earned a Master’s in education, and is currently a reading specialist in the Chicago Public Schools.
2013
Hanan immersed herself in the culture and language of Jordan in 2013. She is a graduate of Swarthmore College, a past recipient of the Go Farther Alumni Award for service to her community, and is now working as a project coordinator at Google.
2014
Milon (center) traveled to Spain in 2014. He returned to earn a degree in biology at Carleton College and is now pursuing his medical degree at the University of Illinois.
2015
Rosario attended a pre-college program on the campus of Boston University. She then earned a degree in information and decision sciences from the University of Illinois and is now a senior analyst at an executive search firm. Rosario is also currently sits on the Board of Farther Foundation
2016
Christopher had an adventure in Tanzania in 2016. He returned to earn a BS from Denison College in biology and zoology/animal biology. He currently is following his passion for animal care as a veterinary assistant.
2017
Cherish explored Panama in 2017. Upon her return she attended and earned a degree in American studies from Kenyon College and is now guiding diversity, inclusion and community engagement for a major restaurant group
2018
Layla participated in a language and cultural immersion program in Japan. She has since earned a BA in English from DePauw University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in journalism at Northwestern University’s Medill School.
2019
Moshay had an adventure in the Galapagos Islands and an immersive experience in Ecuador. She is currently in school at the University of Michigan studying nursing.
2020
In a Covid ravaged year, Caroline was the only student out of 30 who we approved for a scholarship who opted to eventually use her scholarship for a travel program the following summer rather than hold it in reserve for future use as a college scholarship, like the other 29 students. Caroline was able to go to Costa Rica in 2021 and is now a student at the University of Wisconsin.
2021
In another summer constrained by Covid, Farther Foundation awarded mini-grants to over 100 of our program alumni who were currently enrolled in school to help them overcome extra expenses and difficulties arising from the pandemic. Cristian told us, “I am planning on using this to pay off some small part of my student loans, and I will be buying my textbooks for my courses this semester. I am so honored to be given this opportunity to receive a scholarship making my last semester of undergrad easier for me!”
2022
Amal immersed herself in the culture and waters of the Azores on a program focused on marine biology. She has since gone on to attend Pomona College. About her program, Amal said, “My favorite part of the entire trip was when we all got to go outside and sit in chairs that our leaders had set up. We sat in pairs and were asked questions about our lives. We had to share what we were feeling and what we hoped to get out of the trip.”
2023
Dayanara chose to explore Norway. “Three weeks of physical challenges began, we started off with exploring Oslo and white-water rafting in the Sjoa river, followed by a four-day backpacking expedition through snow, rain, and a terribly sprained ankle.”
